Alot of thought has gone into this....

I'm no longer going to be jumping out of planes ... after a long fight with myself I have realised that I’m running a little low on funds and that there is something else that I have always thought about doing aswell as skydiving ... I’ve always wanted to paraglide aswell ... ok let me explain my logical thought process that leads me onto this rash decision, so don’t get me wrong I LOVE skydiving its incredible but as of yet I am still a student and am not progressing very fast, the one thing I love most about skydiving is seeing that the canopy is open and enjoying the ride down ... and something I struggle with is the falling ... its fairly easy to see why I made this decision now, ... so my plan is to take an interest into the world of paragliding aswell ... don't get me wrong the bigger picture is when I have a job and have made some more money I plan to go the Spain or somewhere and take an AFF course and learn properly in one go which I think will be alot more rewarding.

... In other news I have finished my exams woooo, and at the same time the uni term has started ... which means I have to choose a whole load of new
modules ... this is insanely difficult to choose, so the modules I’m doing at the moment are

Introduction to quantum mechanics
Fluid mechanics
Lagrangian and Hamiltonian mechanics
Markov chains
Complex functions
Differential equations and Fourier analysis
Numerical and computational methods

I have 7 of them although I need to drop one ... gah this is so hard to do, they all contain ''maths porn'' (its a technical term)

This weekend could possibly be the most amazing thing that happens ever or…

ow and I’ve signed for a house today its amazing we have this 4 bedroom house in lenton that’s going to be so cool to live in next year I really cant wait now ... although I seem to have wrote some checks with numbers on that I don’t actually have in my account ... doesn’t seem very clever, although they are post dated so hopefully the money will eventually be there at the right time

I feel you pain. I havent had a jump for just over 2 years now. Not by choice but by circumstance. We decdied that having a family should be our priority and we now have 2 gorgeous girls. I still havent been able to jump, and I LOVE skydiving, but all my jumper friends totally understand the reasons behind my decision. At the end of the day even if I am 40 years old, the sky will always be there and you will always be able to skydive again. This is how I deal with it now. I want to have a go at Paragliding as well as it would be awesome to hang under canopy for that long! For now I just ride mountainbikes...so yeah, dont get down about the choices life makes as take, just remember you have done more that so many others have done, and you can always go back to it :clap: :)

quite sad. dont give up skydiving. even if u cant do it for awhile dont give it up forever. adn good luck with the paragliding.

ah yh know what you mean, my dad just got one the other day from some kind of adventure sports convention thing he got it at a discout but the suit was still v expencive ... know exactly what you mean

... ha you cought me at a funny time, i was a skydiver about a week ago but i have had to give that up because ... actually read my journal instead it explains it in there.

ehh unlike skydiving id have to own a drysuit to be able to go in the winter. adn those are... uite quite expensive. so ill probably have to wait til spring. but wat bout u? id like to see some skydivin shots.

its definitely worthwhile ... its just it takes a long time to learn .... and last year i had free time, so managed to sort of learn tho im not as good as i want to be ... check out the pencil club on devart the people on there are amazing ... besides which you have a really unique sort of style ... i recon you should focus on that

aww that is a shame about the hay fever! Yes it is not very helpful that so many DZs have landing areas with long grass!
Good luck with jumping tomorrow! I am jumping this week to, I am going to a DZ in cumbria (North West Parachute Centre) for a few days. I was at langar at the weekend just gone, too! perfect weather! I got in 3 formation skydive jumps, a tracking dive and a jump where I played rock-paper-scissors with a friend, in freefall! :D

know exactly how you feel ... i might be jumping this wed ... i cant wait now am already looking forward to it ... altho come think about it theres one thing i hate about skydiving ... i hate that i have really bad hay fever the last time i jumped i had to wait like 2 hours just to stop water pouring out my eyes ... im almost certain most of the people there thought i was crying which didnt really help in making any new skydiving friends ... the reason im mentioning this is cause right now i cant stop myself from sneezing ... i just got back from london where ive been for the past 3 weeks (ish) and im now back at home in the lovely countryside , but i cant stop bloody sneezing its insane

yeah, the adrenaline rush is addictive isn't it! shame about the awful weather we've had the last few weeks lol, i keep planning to go to the dropzone and it just ends up raining! i feel like i haven't jumped for years even though it's only been a few weeks!
yeah it's so strange/surreal to think that every time we jump we just put ourselves with 15 seconds from death! and it's probably the only sport where we have to save our own life too!

nope it sounds just like me to say this but i like the idea of jumping on my own throuought the whole coure that way i recon it will be loads more exhilerating ... and the adrenaline will be so much more powerful the fear of the posability of death comes closer .... altho inside you know that its still pretty safe,
yhp i jump at langar but im in london at the moment so i dont know when ill be back up to langar, ... hopefully it will be before the end of summer,

congrats! skydiving is sooo much fun isn't it! yeah i have to work loads just to afford it, like here i am just finishing work on a gorgeous saturday when all my mates are jumping just so i can get some cash!
wait till you get to terminal velocity that'll blow your mind!! did you ever do a tandem before? i just went straight to static line, but then i switched to AFF cos it was quicker! Where are you doing your course? i jump at netheravon (wiltshire) and sometimes langar (nottingham).
oh yeah "blue skies" is like a greeting/goodbye used by skydivers! Cos blue skies are what we like best for jumping! basically it just means "happy days" or "hey fellow skydiver" or something like that.

yhp i am officially a static line jumper still have to wait for my skydiving status tho... at the mo im working as much as i can so i can get this RAPS course compleated cant wait

...ah yh maybe you might be able to help with this at the end of every email i recieve from the peson who helped me get into skydiving she always writes blue skies and so have you what on earth does it mean yes i know ive written it on the bottom ok my signature thigmybob i spicifically wrote it so someone like you might be able to explain

last night was insane we had an end of summer party thing at uni, ... sounds on the downs ... inevitably the fire clubs, poi and staff came out ... it was an awsome sesh we even had the jamba drumbs going on in the background
